In front of the guest house the outside terrace roofing needs to be done, a couple of cement pillars have been made to carry the roofing.
Finally getting around to showing some updated pics, been fairly busy, but take a few days off now and then, no need to hurry, got plenty of time. We have been living in the guest house since February, everything inside is working fine. Still got some exterior work to do and when done got to get it painted. Lots to do yet, but I am getting there!
Don’t think I ever showed the new solar panel, currently I only use 75% of it, more is not needed. Keeps the water at 65 degrees celsius and behind it is a 150 liter water tank that keeps the water heated during the night. Really nice product, 20 year guarantee and fairly cheap.
In the process of knocking down an exterior wall, need the room to build the kitchen addition.
Had to put in a new water pipe, the old one broke was no longer useable, at the same time hooked up an outside socket on the pillar, so now we have water and electricity in the back part of the garden.
What is this? Very simple, this is a solar water heater! This was my second test to see if this would work and this is about 100 meters of black tubing and it takes about 20-30 minutes for the sun to heat the water inside to 50-60 degrees celsius. The cold water is taken from the pool, sent into the tubing with a pump, sits 30 minutes and then is pumped out the other end into the swimming pool. The tubing here holds about 50 liters of water, the pump is on a timer and runs 10x per day. This was only a test and in the next pic you can see what the end product looks like…The final product, still in progress, here after 2 days of working I have 300 meters of tubing onto a 2m x 10m black reflecting surface. When done, I hope to have over 500 meters of tubing. If I have calculated correctly, this should heat up the pool 3 degrees during the day as long as the sun is shining. During the spring and fall this will really help, during summer it is not needed, the water heats up enough. Finally I will be putting a frame around this and covering it with transparent plastic wrap to really heat up the tubing! Has the effect of a car dashboard heated up from the sun rays, works really effective.I got a used pool cover roller, put in some new rivets to hold it together, cleaned it up and it works fine. Now to get a cheap tarp to use as a pool cover and we are in the pool heating business. All of this, tubing, pool cover, other small materials, hasn’t cost me even 200€, much cheaper than a electricity water heater.
